Our Shepherd Lutheran Church and School family,
COVID19 has brought much of what’s “normal” to a halt. People are getting sick and some are dying. We are unable to freely move around and socialize. It’s uncanny how Jesus’s words with His disciples in the Upper Room seem to apply to our current state of affairs. “A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me.” John 16:32 While our current events can’t be compared to what Jesus and the disciples felt that last night they were together, it’s good for us to recognize that Christ is with us while we are “scattered.”
In the interest of protecting our members and vulnerable members of our community from COVID19, Our Shepherd Lutheran Church and School is undertaking the following measures:
All worship services, through April 1, will be HOME-BASED ONLY.
Although we will not meet in person, we will still worship together through our pre-recorded services on our YouTube channel. Our midweek Lenten worship will be available beginning Wednesday, March 18, at 4:30 pm. Traditional worship will be available beginning Sunday, March 22, at 8:00 am. If able, we will record and make available a contemporary service on Saturday, March 21 at 6:30 pm. Visit youtube.com/OurShepherdLutheranChurch to view services and use our confirmation videos as family devotions. Please join online us as we publish regular weekly worship services on Wednesdays and Sundays.
ALL activities, meetings, and events (except Food Pantry) hosted on campus are cancelled through April 1.
Ministry continues even when the church office is closed and we are prevented from worshipping at Church. In stressful times, opportunities to share Christ grow. We thank and praise God for His goodness to us by continuing to give. You may tithe online by utilizing the GIVE tab at ourshepherd.org, or you can mail your gift to the church. If you need assistance, please contact Kim Meyerholtz by calling the church office or email her
Home-based worship materials
Family/small group devotional materials have been prepared and are available via our website and enclosed in a congregational mailing. Look for more resources to be made available via our website and weekly emails.
Our school is utilizing home-based learning this week, followed by spring break for two weeks. We plan to re-open on April 6.
The Church offices are CLOSED but the staff is still available.
Although the office is closed, you can still contact us at (317) 271-9103 or email . Please let us know if you have any pastoral concerns or needs. Our staff will continue to monitor emails during this time.
We will send updated information about worship, events, and activities on Tuesdays and Fridays. Check your email, our website, and social media for the most up to date information.
Jesus prepared His disciples for being taken from them by assuring them that what He suffered would bring them peace. “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 Many are tempted to put their faith in the things of this world, medicine, not getting sick or other earthly means. We do well to keep our focus on Christ, His victory over our sin and death, which gives us the hope of everlasting life.
May God grant you His peace and patience during these trying times.
