COME HELP US, O LORD

December 3, 2017

First Sunday in Advent

On this side of eternity, there are times in our lives when we cry out to the Lord for help. Sometimes we wish He would come down and deliver us from our trials. With the prophet Isaiah, we cry out in hope that Christ will come down to us, to save us and restore all of creation.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Many thanks to all who helped decorate the church for Advent and Christmas!

ADVENT SERVICES - Advent services begin on Wednesday, December 6th at 4:30 & 6:30 p.m. with a meal served at 5:15 p.m. Please see the upcoming events section for the Christmas Eve, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve service schedules.

HYMN SING - Don’t forget our weekly hymn sing at the beginning of our Advent worship services. Each week we will sing 6-8 verses of hymns chosen by the congregation. Join us for this Advent service favorite!

ADVENT DEVOTIONALS - Pick up your devotional near the communication board in the narthex!  We have interactive booklets for children, an advent calendar for teens, and devotional booklets for adults.

ALTAR FLOWERS - The Altar Guild is once again ordering poinsettias to beautify the sanctuary. There is a sign-up sheet by the Luther Room if you would like to order one. They are $12 each and payment may be placed in the offering plate with "poinsettia" on the memo line or envelope. Thank you!

CHOIR COOKIE WALK -  In lieu of the cookie walk and in appreciation for the congregation’s support of the music ministry, the choir will be providing cookies during fellowship time on Sunday, December 10th. Any leftover cookies will be available to take home after the conclusion of the late services.

OSLS - The Kindergarten-4th graders will be serving OSLC by leading the 6:30 p.m. Advent worship service on December 13th.
