May 7, 2017 — The Fourth Sunday of Easter
JESUS - TRUE SHEPHERD AND ONLY DOOR
Jesus shows us the measure of His love for us in this, “I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.” Many false teachers and false preachers will come. They are in it for themselves. Christ comes for us. Instead of taking from us, He blesses us, gives us life eternal and invites us to share life with our Shepherd!
VOTERS’ MEETING ~ Join us on Sunday, May 21st at 12:15 p.m. when we will discuss the budget and announce the Governing Board's decision regarding concurrent worship and how it will impact our ministry. We will also hear how confirmation is changing and provide details about the Kenya mission trip.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL ~ Plan to join the fun; VBS is Sunday, June 11th - Thursday, June 15th, 6:00 - 8:15 p.m. Come enjoy music, games, crafts, and Bible lessons based on the theme Mighty Fortress: In Jesus, the Victory is Won! A meal will be served each evening beginning at 5:30 p.m.
KENYA MISSION ~ A mission team from Our Shepherd and the Lepley family will be going to Point of Grace Academy in Kisumu, Kenya in June. Some donation suggestions include: playing cards, toothpaste, toothbrushes, nail polish, boys boxers, children’s socks, classroom wall décor, maps/charts, crayons/markers, masking tape, Wiggles DVDs, LEGOs, Christian CDs, scissors, over-the-counter medicine, first aid supplies.
We will be taking three suitcases each, so if you could donate a suitcase (not to be returned), that would be very helpful. The Mission team will be meeting with all Our Shepherd sponsored children, so if those families that are sponsoring a child would like to write a note to their child, the Mission team will deliver these. All items can be dropped off in the Kenya Mission team box near the Luther Room.
LUTHER MOVIE ~ Living Christ Lutheran Church is hosting a showing of "Martin Luther: The Idea that Changed the World" at Carmike Theatre at Perry Crossing in Plainfield on Monday, June 12, at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 each and may be purchased by calling Living Christ (317) 839-4800. Tickets will not be available at the door.
OSLS ~ The month of May brings many special activities that the congregation is invited to attend. The Lutheran schools 4th grade Hoosier History Bowl is Monday, May 15th at 10:00 a.m. The Kindergarten Authors' Tea is Friday, May 19th at 9:00 a.m., with the 1st grade Mini-Indy later that day at 2:00 p.m. 8th grade graduation is Thursday, May 25th at 7:00 p.m. We’d love to see you at any of these events!
