Hello, and welcome to Pre-kindergarten at Our Shepherd!
2018-2019 School Year
Monday - Friday (half days) 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Monday - Friday (full days) 8:30 a.m. - 3:25 p.m.
The pre-kindergarten program continues to build on those skills previously learned in preschool. Independence is increased as learning expands to prepare them for Kindergarten and beyond.
Children in pre-kindergarten are greeted by Mrs. Tracie Douglas, our Pre-kindergarten Teacher, and our Pre-kindergarten Aide, Mrs. The-Resa Lipsey.
Tracie has been in early childhood education for 8 years and graduated from Concordia Chicago with a degree in Early Childhood Education and a Spanish concentration. She has a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia Portland. Tracie loves teaching children - especially about Jesus!
The-Resā is a graduate of Advanced Vocational Health Institute with a degree as a certified nurse assistant (CNA) and home health care. She has been a member of Our Shepherd Lutheran Church and School for 19 years, aiding in the Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten rooms for all those years. Most of all she enjoys letting her life be an example for non-Christians who are unbelievers, that the Lord Jesus Christ can work through all.

Each day class starts with the Pledge of Allegiance and prayer. Children are taught daily through words, music and actions that God loves them. Faith is expressed daily and incorporated into all aspects of teaching.
Children will work on age appropriate skill development through the following:

Guided, directed, and free choice play
Developmentally appropriate practices
- One-on-one student/teacher time
