Trish Schmidt
RN, BSN
Parish Nurse
 Trish
Schmidt is originally from Washington, Indiana, which is in the
southwestern part of the state. She received her original
degree as a registered nurse from Vincennes University,
Vincennes, Indiana in 1978. Trish moved to Indianapolis in 1981
and has remained a resident of the area since that time,
currently living in Avon. She completed her parish nurse
training through the Parish Nurse/Distance Learning Program with
Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW) in 2003. Trish went back
to college in 2003 completing her bachelor degree in nursing
from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2005, graduating magna cum
laude. Currently, Trish is a lay ministry student with CUW’s
Theological Education by Extension (TEE) program to complete her
lay ministry/parish nurse colloquy. She has been practicing
parish nursing at Our Shepherd since mid-2000. Recently Our
Shepherd started Stephen Ministry, and Trish is one of the
Stephen Leaders for that program.
Trish is married (Jim) with three
children. The eldest is Stephen who is a medical doctor and a
captain with the U.S. Air Force. The two younger children,
Emily (13) and Mark (8), are students of Our Shepherd Lutheran
School. In addition to parish nursing, Trish enjoys playing the
piano, collecting cookbooks, and playing in the church bell
choir.
