Rev. Ronald P. May
Senior Pastor
Pastor
Ronald May was born on June 10, 1963 in Erie, PA. The oldest of
four children, he grew up in Lawrence Park, Pennsylvania. In June
of 1981 he graduated from Iroquois High School. Pastor May began
his undergraduate studies at Concordia College in Ann Arbor, MI;
graduating in 1985 with a BA in Biblical Languages. In the fall of
1985 he began his seminary training at Concordia Theological
Seminary in Fort Wayne, IN. From 1987-88 he served his vicarage at
Messiah Lutheran Church in Longmont, CO. In the spring of 1989 he
graduated from the seminary with a Master of Divinity Degree.
Pastor May’s first call was to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Walker,
MN. He served as their sole pastor from 1989-1994. During that
time he was active in the county jail ministry and the local
ministerial association. He served on the district’s board of
stewardship. He also assisted congregations in the Minnesota North
District as a trained facilitator for small church planning
workshops.
In
January of 1995 Pastor May accepted a call to be the Assistant
Pastor of St. John Lutheran Church of Indianapolis. His call was
changed to that of Associate Pastor in September of 1998. During
his four years at St. John, Pastor May provided leadership in the
areas of outreach, assimilation, education and school ministry.
Beyond the parish he served as a pastoral representative on the
crisis response team at Lutheran High School of Indianapolis.
Since August of 1999, Pastor May has been serving as Pastor of Our
Shepherd Lutheran Church of Indianapolis.
His title was
changed to Senior Pastor in November of 2002.
In addition to parish ministry, Pastor May serves
as a Chaplain in the U.S. Naval Reserve; having been commissioned
in 1990. He also is a part-time religion instructor at Concordia
University – Wisconsin’s Adult Learning Center in Carmel, IN.
Pastor May married Kimberly Grapatin of Chicago on June 24, 1989.
Pastor and Kim
have been married for 14 years. God has
blessed their marriage with three children: Karlie (11),
Jonathan (8), and Kristie (6).
