Marty Hasz
Director
of Christian Education
Marty
Hasz was born on November 1, 1969 in Indianapolis, IN. The
youngest of two children, he grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana. He
was a member at Calvary Lutheran Church from birth through
college. He attended Calvary Lutheran School through 8th
grade. In May of 1988 he graduated from Lutheran High School of
Indianapolis. Marty began his undergraduate studies at Concordia
University in River Forest, IL; graduating in 1992 with a BA in
Theology/Elementary Education with special studies in church
administration. From 1992-93 he served at St. John Lutheran Church
in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin for his year of internship
training. In the spring of 1993 he received his certification as a
Director of Christian Education from Concordia, River Forest.
Marty’s first call was to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbus,
IN. He served as their first Director of Christian Education, from
1993-1999. During that time his work was focused around developing
a youth group for fifth and sixth grade families, Puppet Ministry,
Jr. High Youth, Sr. High Youth, College Ministry, Sunday School
Ministry, Small Group Midweek Adult Bible Studies, Sunday Morning
Bible Studies, Vacation Bible School, Inter-church & community
youth activities, etc. Also during that time he was active in the
Pregnancy Care Center of Columbus by teaching about abstinence in
public Jr. High and High Schools. For 6 years he served on the
district’s board of Youth Ministry, and the planning team for the
Indiana District Youth Gathering.
Since July of 1999, Marty Hasz has been serving as Director of
Christian Education of Our Shepherd Lutheran Church of
Indianapolis. His areas of responsibility include youth ministry
and Christian education, with it’s various ministry programs.
Marty married Dru Montague of Columbus on August 21, 1999. Dru is
a graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington, IN. He and Dru and
now the proud parents of a new child, Caleb, born Oct. 15, 2002.
A
highlight of his ministry is the Brickyard Builder Servant Event.
Marty’s philosophy of ministry focus’ around involving people in
serving Christ in it’s various forms. Marty feels strongly that we
should keep people involved in giving the Love of Christ, which
keeps us moving forward in our relationship with God and
facilitates our work to fulfill the great commission.
